Help Plz!!!

my comp is ridiculously slow. i started to download from a site i normally dl at 1 MBps and ive started to get 7 KBps from it and everything else. i have about 2000 registry errors which im pretty sure is the source of the problem. id love to know how to fix this( b4 i toss it out this conveniently located 2nd story window). plus if theres n e thing else that would be slowing me down plz let me know

i dunno about yo9ur regitry errors
but you should defragment your harddrive, after i put all my music on my pc it became slow ass hell untill i defraged it

on xp its
start > all programs > accesories > system tools > disk defragmenter

you can also try a disk cleanup

Hrmm I don't have a windows box to test with so hopeully i can do this by memory, so if the following steps don't work please let me know what errored out.

The following steps should help me diagnose what is eating up all your cpu cycles/ram, from that I can hopefully find a solution:

1. Download pstools from here http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/PsTools.zip
2. Extract pstools and move pslist.exe into c:\
3. Open up a command prompt (Start > Run > type cmd)
4. Navigate to c:\ by entering cd\
5. Now we want to dump a list of processes and such so I can see what is slowing your computer down, enter: pslist.exe -d -m -x -t > process.log
6. After that open up the file c:\process.log in notepad/wordpad and copy & paste it to the forum

add /accepteula to step 5, so its like:
pslist.exe /accepteula -d -m -x -t > process.log

I guess i should go find my windows cd and set up a VM so i can trouble shoot easier im blind like this haha

ps just tried again and got same thing as before

i tried doing just pslist.exe and got a huge list of programs and numbers is that what im looking for??

Is it just returning that in command window? Are you actually looking in the file located at c:\process.log? I am hoping it returns more information such as ram usage but i guess i can work with just a process list and guestimate. Anyways if the file at c:\process.log doesn't have processes just copy and paste the command prompt or send screen shots if you don't know how.

Or better yet do you have AIM/gtalk/xblive/ps3/etc i will help you set up ur pc so i can remote in and u can watch me real quick and fix it tonight hopefully.

Edit: I avoid gui's at all cost on computers i am all about the command line, Even when i run os x i do most of my work through terminal. I use a command line text editor instead of any gui text editor most the time I friggen love vi.

yeah i have an aim it's psychojohn15 but i cant do it tonight im supposed to be in bed like half an hour ago, i can only really only do that during the day tyvm tho

You didn't answer my question still, did ya look in the actual file? or just assumed what appeared in the command window would be whats in the file?

o sry i just typed cd\
then pslist.exe
and the table came up in the command window
