Default Vista Service Pack 1

To all Vista users, Service Pack 1 is out and ready to download through Windows Update.

I had a problem with finding SP1 through Windows Update. It wouldn't show it to me. Just download everything listed in the updater, then reopen it and it should have SP1 in there by itself.

Haven't finished the download yet, but I've heard it speeds up Vista a bit.

Awesome! I'm gonna start downloading right away. One of my Hardcore designer friends says it works with Photoshop CS3 to stop it from using up 30% RAM. Hopefully it also helps with the fact that photoshop cuts battery life in half. Any word on XPSP3?

Edit: Hey when you were installing did your screen keep flashing and changing resolution. Mine keeps going to 800 x 600 and it says it's installing an update for the touch pad :\

How can I tell if it worked?

My screen didn't do any of that, but installation tends to sit at a certain percent for a long while, then skip forward. Be patient in your install.

Yeah, it's a bit of a hunt. Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> View installed updates (on the left) -> check to make sure SP 1 is there before installing.

If you think you've already installed it, the easier way to check is right click "Computer" -> Properties and it'll have this if you have SP1
