Linux week

I want to learn some linux! A complete load down of basic commands and how to make them and ways of linux security would be amazing.

i hated using linux at first. my newspaper used a crappy version of it and a bunch of old computers.XD

ls=lists files in currenet directory
cd (directory)=moves you to X directory use ".." as the directory to go back a directory
mv "filename" "location and new filename"=moves a file to a specified point, just put a new name if you are renameing a file
cp "file" "location"=copyies a file to X location
emacs=text editor, may not be default on linux machines, if not use the command "apt-get install emacs"
nano=built in text editor (not as good as emacs in my opinion but still alright
rm "filename"= deletes file

do you want security for a server or non-server

why hate it? linux is wonderful, and if you don't like it download a ver with a GUI

alot more secure, alot better, i run a sftp/ssh server out of my house with one, and i use it to stream video to my apple tv (just got one

i think its crap. but if i knew where to go and download the newest version......

i only used the old one.

here for ubuntu which is a great linux distro

and here for openSUSE which seems more user freindly, both are good, it just depends on what is the style you want

whats the difference? and how hard is it to get rid of if i want to kill it?
