finding a computers "name"

if your in the commandline on the box you can just type hostname, also you can also use the ip address of the box instead of hostname.

try going to network connection and search wahtever is there(something like microsoft network or entire network) you should eb able to see the computers that are connected to the network, im sorry im infront of a mac right now not shure

Btw that probably wont work unless if you are logged into an administrator or a network administrator account

If you have admin rights you can create a user account via commandline. Maybe your school gives you admin access to local machine and he created a local admin which is nothing too special. Its an enterprise admin account you want to do anything.
