Default question about xbox live

does anybody know what part of your internet xbox live uses?

cuz i have cable, and my dl speed is just under 5.5 megs, but my upload is just over 512 kb

and i cant figure out why i keep on getting disconnected EVERY game i play, so im thinking it might use upload and dl speed, which would make sence, but im not sure

does anyone know?

Find out your Xbox's IP and ping it while you play... When you drop connection check to see if it drops you may have a bad cable.

I think the command is ping -t IPHERE

open these ports on your router/modem, they will boost your connection

UDP 88
UDP 3074

go to your xbox system section then network connections, and find your xbox's ip.

then get a computer and type your gateway into whatever browser you use, to find your gateway go Start>run>cmd>ipconfig /all and gateway should be listed there. Chances are you will be prompted for a user name and password. Now find out where the page is to forward the port. It could be called: Port forwarding, Applications, Firewall, or Games. Add the rule for your ip by adding your IP, the port range, and then most likely it will ask if you want it to be TCP,UDP, or Both. Both will always work but chances are unless it is specified it will be tcp. Also if there are checkboxes to the left chances are you will want to have it checked(this just enables the rule).

i just edited some of that post to fit the xbox
